Dr. Kaufman is a periodontist specializing in various cosmetic periodontal procedures.
Among the most common procedures he performs is cosmetic crown lengthening. The gums are cosmetically reshaped to make short teeth appear longer and to eliminate a “gummy” smile.
Dr. Kaufman works in concert with our restorative dentists. He sets the stage for the proper design of the gingiva so that restorations like porcelain veneers or crowns can look their best. In the pictures below one sees beautiful restored smiles when the periodontist and cosmetic dentists work in harmony with one another. After cosmetic periodontal reshaping was completed the teeth were restored with porcelain veneers or crowns.

Another cosmetic procedure that he performs is called a Soft Tissue Graft (or free gingival graft.) In this procedure a tooth appears too long (i.e. roots are exposed) may be covered with new gum tissue so that a more aesthetic and healthy result can be achieved.
